About Ancestor Seeds + Genealogy

It all began with Mama Teter.

She was my paternal great-grandmother and, by all accounts, a force. She died when I was two and her legacy swirled with mystery. I had to know if the story fragments I had picked up around the dining table, during visits to relatives’ homes, and at funerals were true. Did she really have 3 husbands? Did she really have her house moved by horse-drawn wagon to the homestead in rural Oklahoma? I learned about the foods she cooked and scoured the U.S. for specific heirloom seeds to grow exactly what she grew on her land.

My love for piecing together Mama Teter’s story set me on a path to dive deeply and broadly into other branches of my family tree. It was so empowering to splash around in my own messy, hilarious, and sometimes tragic mix of ancestors that I started doing it for others.

It is an honor to be entrusted with my clients’ family stories. I strive to show the deepest respect by telling their ancestors’ stories with as much care and texture as I would for my own. I hail from a long line of storytellers and preachers, and when layered on to my degrees in English and Education from Williams College and Harvard University, respectively, I weave together your family history with engaging prose and the highest research standards.
